Stewardship of the Earth
As a chapter we have decided to devote several saturdays over the next few months to raising residential recycling from around 10% to 50%. We will do this by going door to door, missionary style, to raise awareness of the economic and ecological benefits of recyling.
Chapter members will be distributing the following flyer door to door:

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

The case for recycling is strong. The bottom line is clear. Recycling requires a trivial amount of our time. Recycling saves money and reduces pollution. Recycling creates more jobs than landfilling or incineration. And a largely ignored but very important consideration, recycling reduces our need to dump our garbage in someone else’s backyard. -- David Morris of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance

Reduce.
Our impact on the environment can be lightened by simply reducing our consumption and eliminating excess waste. Bring canvas bags to the grocery store. Buy in bulk to avoid excess packaging. Conserve energy and water in your home.
Re-use.
By making the things that we use last, we decrease our need to purchase new items. Repair things before throwing them away. Buy second hand before you buy new.
Use your creativity to give uses to things that you may throw away.
Recycle.
The easiest of the three is simply recycling what we do throw away. Paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminum can all be made into new and useful products.

Currently only 10% of Provo residents recycle. Join us in our efforts to increase recycling to at least 50%. Together we can reduce our negative impact on the enviroment & become better stewards of the earth. To sign up call 852-6000 - For more information click here.

This community project was organized by Mormons for Equality and Social Justice. To join or for more information - www.mesj.org - This flyer was printed on recycled paper

Chapter Bulletin Board

During our Radical family home evenings we are compiling scriptures that admonish us to lift the poor, fight for social justice, and protect and serve the earth and its creatures. After we have a reasonably survey of scriptures we plan to publish them in a scripture size format.
Please participate and send us your scriptures by email !
