Explain:
Effective government is key to a just, prosperous society. "Public servants"-- elected officials or government employees--who are wise and responsible in their stewardships can make a big difference in the temporal welfare of the people in their communities. United Nations Public Service Day was founded to encourage exemplary public service. On this day, the United Nations gives awards to public servants from around the world who have done exemplary work to promote development and citizen participation in government.

Pray:

• Give thanks for the public services you enjoy (water, electricity, roads, police, etc.)
• Give thanks for public servants who are truly dedicated to serving the public.
• Pray that public servants around the world will be blessed with wisdom to solve the problems faced by their communities.
