World Health Day
April 7
Read:
D&C 89:18, 20
Explain:
The Word of Wisdom teaches us that our Heavenly Father is concerned about
the health of His children. Despite great advances in medicine, many health
challenges still face the peoples of the world, and millions of people
do not have adequate access to health care services. Since 1950, World
Health Day has been observed annually to highlight health issues
of worldwide concern. The World Health Organization (WHO) chooses a specific
area of concern as the theme for each year's observance. Visit WHO's World
Health Day website to read about this year's theme.
Pray:
- Give thanks for the blessing of health and for advances in medicine.
- Give thanks for the teachings of the Word of Wisdom regarding good health.
- Pray that God will continue to pour down knowledge on the heads of medical researchers.
- Pray for the efforts of those who strive to make health care services available to people in need.
- Pray that individuals will take steps to lead healthier lives and that societies will make health for all people a greater priority.
