World Day for Water
March 22
Read:
Psalm 65:9-10
Explain:
Water is essential for all forms of life: people, animals, and plants.
We need water to drink, to wash, to grow crops, and to produce electrical
power. As the human population grows from 6 billion to 9 billion, more
and more water will be needed--which means we need to be more careful
in using the earth's limited freshwater resources. World Water Day focuses
attention on the need to provide safe and sufficient drinking water for
all people; to conserve and recycle water; to prevent water pollution;
to ensure that wetlands and wildlife have the water they need; and to
effectively manage our limited water supplies.
Pray:
- Give thanks for the blessing of safe, readily available drinking water.
- Pray for those who do not have safe or sufficient water for drinking, washing, or growing food.
- Pray that a spirit of conservation will prevail among those who do have adequate water.
- Pray that government and industry leaders will be blessed with wisdom in managing water supplies and preventing pollution.
