The Earth Is a Gift

Suggested Hymns:
All Things Bright and Beautiful (Children's Songbook 231)
How Great Thou Art (Hymns 86)
God Is Love (Hymns 87)

Read:
Psalm 104

Discuss:
When have family members experienced awe in the presence of God's creation (a breathtaking landscape, a towering tree, a close encounter with a wild animal, etc.)?
How do experiences like these help make us aware of God's love?
How must Heavenly Father feel when He sees His children polluting the earth and destroying its creatures?
How can we take better care of the earth God has given us?

Activity:
Invite each family member to make a picture or collage depicting things in creation that have caused them to feel awe or that have made them aware of God's love. Give each picture the caption: "The earth is full of thy riches" (Ps. 104:24). During the closing prayer, you might give thanks for the specific creations family members depicted in their pictures.
