Matthew Coles, Partner / Account Director
Contact's founder discovered graphics as a young child watching his father's magazine, Utah Holiday, undergo paste-up in the late 1970s. As an English major at the University of Utah, Matthew Coles was the sports editor at The Daily Utah Chronicle where his interest soon expanded from merely formulating the written words to directing the way they were organized with art and images on a page.
After publishing a few newsletters, Matthew launched Contact full-time in the basement of his home with his trusty PowerMac 7100 and a head full of ideas.
He keeps his foot in the journalism world with frequent assignments covering Utah Jazz basketball games and University of Utah sporting events for Associated Press.
Jesse Walker, Partner / Creative Director
As a celebrated DJ, designer, and gentle ambassador to the city, Jesse Walker has helped shape the culture of downtown Salt Lake through his many community connections and his popular New City Movement blog.
Walker got his start in design by making posters and flyers for his high school band and subsequent electronic music events in his native Idaho and then Utah.
With over 20 years in the design industry, Jesse still has an irrepressible curiosity for music, art and people which he converts into raw creativity for Contact clients.
Stephen Coles, Typographer / Consultant
Stephen Coles is a world-renown editor, typographer and tastemaker who consults for Contact from Oakland and Berlin after working in the office during the studio's formative years.
After six years at FontShop as a creative director, he now publishes Fonts In Use and Typographica, writes for type foundries, PRINT magazine and consults with various organizations on typeface selection.

Tim is always learning new UX/UI skills when he's not busy illustrating, hand lettering or bidding on rare Seinfeld memorabilia.
